This was @ the TIP of the "Get Rich" Junk Wax ERA.
The quest to search your closet & sell your cards.
Like the rare FLEER basketball cards of 1986 that increased incrementally to 1989 then got ridiculously over-produced, that is NOT the STORY with this SET.
Perhaps TOPPS best Hockey set ever!!! What makes this set worth the $$$ ?
Way SMALLER Qty. than Topps CANADA counterpart OPC who did a 2nd printing trying to flood the market & take advantage off the then craze.
2nd - Most hobbyists (even store owners) stayed w/ one sport, while the big boys went for the traditional 3, baseball, football & basketball.
Very few collected hockey, much like it took a long time for soccer to catch on.
3rd - Perhaps GENIUS chance - 2 ROOKIES who would go onto be Hall of Famers.
Now w/ 44 HALL of FAMERS & growing.
May be the MOST UNDER-VALUED set in all Hockey collecting.
