Vintage 1960’s Waltah Clarke's Hawaiian Maxi Aloha Dress Honolulu Tiki Luau MCM
1960's Waltah Clarke's barkcloth Hawaiian maxi gown, made in Honolulu. The history of Waltah Clarke is so cool to read up on, as he was one of the main figures in the fashion world that brought Hawaiian style to mainland USA. Apparently when he moved to Hawaii in 1938, he worked for Don the Beachcomber during his time in Waikiki. In the land of midcentury Hawaiian vintage, Waltah Clarke is one of the best design labels you can collect. Good vintage condition, a couple minor imperfections as pictured (see last pic).
